Dr. Shadish received her degree from Purdue
University in 1983 and since then has
held teaching assignments in numerous universities, including Miami University
of Ohio and California
State University
at Northridge. She is currently a professor at El Camino Community College. At
El Camino, in addition to her regular teaching duties, Dr. Shadish has served
in many capacities, including as faculty coordinator for the Global Education
through Technology Project (connecting classes across the globe through
videoconferencing), as a pioneer in educational technology (through early
adoption of online education, as a mentor for fellow online educators and as
Faculty Coordinator of Online Communities for the California Virtual Campus)
and as the political action co-chair of the El Camino College Federation of
Teachers. Her work has recently focused on two areas of interest: the
internationalization of education and the application of philosophy to
political, ethical and technical problems of social interest.
